8 Questions to Ask Before You Book Your Wedding DJ
Most couples are hiring a wedding DJ for the first time, so it's hard to know what to ask. Here are the questions we'd want answered if we were in your shoes.
Will you be our DJ on the day, or will someone else show up? Some companies send whoever is available. At Night Shift, the DJ you meet with is the DJ who plays your wedding.
Can we meet in person before we book? A face-to-face meeting tells you a lot about whether you click.
How do you plan the music with us? Ask how they handle must-play songs, do-not-play songs and requests from guests.
Will you also be our MC? Your DJ usually announces your entrance, toasts, cake cutting and last dance. Make sure they're comfortable on the mic.
What sound and lighting do you bring? Ask about speakers, wireless microphones, dance lighting and backup equipment.
Can you cover the ceremony and cocktail hour too? Many venues have them in different spaces, which means extra sound setup.
How much time do you need for setup, and what do you need from the venue? Power, space and load-in times matter, especially at outdoor and barn venues.
What's included in the price, and what costs extra? Get a clear quote covering hours, overtime, travel, ceremony sound and add-ons like a photo booth.
Have a question we didn't cover? Reach out. We're happy to talk it through, even if you're still comparing DJs..
